Bark spreading at the Fitzrovia Trust children’s playground in Whitfield Street: the last of the mountain of bark

Have you ever been to the Fitzrovia Trust Playground in Whitfield Street? It’s a remarkable green space for children in an über urban area created by The Fitzrovia Trust.

On Saturday 21 November I found myself shovelling bark, and having a thoroughly enjoyable time with founding members of the Fitzrovia Trust. The sun came out, and against a sparkling blue sky the post office tower looked as startling as it must have done when it was first built. The play area now has a good thick covering of bark for children  and adults to stomp about on.

There’s nothing quite like fresh air, sunshine, exercise and good banter to lift the spirits.
