Plans for Middlesex Hospital Chapel to host music, dance and weddings

The Middlesex Hospital Chapel could become a venue for music, dance and weddings under plans to be unveiled at an open day in March.

Edward Turner, chair of the The Fitzrovia Chapel Foundation, told Fitzrovia News: “We are applying for a premises licence and a licence for civil marriages that, if granted, would allow us to host plays and films, allow performance of dance, sell alcohol and of course have weddings.”

The chapel trustees also plan to host musical events in the Grade II* listed building. Currently the chapel — the only fully intact structure left of the former Middlesex Hospital — is open one day a week for quiet contemplation. Fitzrovia News understands that the trustees want the chapel to have a secular future. In 2014 the trustees stated they will refer to the…
